According to prison records, Young Thug was one of 28 persons charged in Georgia on Monday on accusations of conspiracy to violate the state’s RICO legislation and street gang charges.
Jeffrey Lamar Williams, an Atlanta rapper, was detained at his residence in Buckhead, a district just north of downtown Atlanta. The Fulton County Jail is where he is being kept.
According to the prison record, the conspiracy charge was filed in 2013 and the gang charge was filed in 2018.
According to the indictment, Young Thug is one of three founders of the Young Slime Life, a “criminal street gang that began in late 2012” in Atlanta. Officials claim that YSL is linked to the national Bloods gang. “Preserving, safeguarding, and increasing the enterprise’s reputation, power, and territory by acts of racketeering activity, including murder, assault, and threats of violence,” according to the charges.

Prosecutors stated in the indictment that YSL is affiliated with the Bloods gang and cited multiple gang-related activities, including criminal acts, that span years, according to AJC.
According to the indictment, one such event involved Young Thug renting a car and ordering the assassination of a rival gang member.
“Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever,” Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel told local media, adding that he will “fight until his last drop of blood to exonerate him.”
He will appear in court for the first time on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
